From left, Dr. Susan Yost, State Forester Mike Valenti, and Delaware State University President Harry L. Williams celebrate DSU’s certification as a Tree Campus USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation. In addition to being the only Tree Campus USA in the First State, DSU is also the only historically Black college or university (HBCU) recognized as a Tree Campus USA in the entire nation. DSU achieved this honor because it has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to the care and protection of campus trees as well as a determined focus on education – exemplified by its first-class arboretum, which is carefully designed and maintained by its dedicated faculty and students.
